Stirling Hinchliffe
Since not contesting the October 2024 Queensland State Election, Stirling Hinchliffe has applied his extensive experience, strong public policy grounding and business know-how to a range of roles. His primary commitment is as Director of Strategy Development at Northern Australia Accommodation Solutions (NAAS) supporting manufactured building delivery to projects in Northern Australia. Stirling is also the independent board chair of a boutique investment company, an advisory board member of a social enterprise and volunteers as a board director with Basketball Queensland. He has also applied his strategic advisory services to a number of temporary projects.
Stirling was a Cabinet Minister in the Queensland State Government for a total of 10 years during his 15 years in the Queensland Parliament. His Ministerial responsibilities included Infrastructure & Planning; Employment; Skills; Mining; Transport; Commonwealth Games; Local Government; Multicultural Affairs; Racing; Innovation; Tourism and Sport.
In those roles, Stirling was involved in large transformative projects including: the South East Queensland Water Grid; Northern Busway; AirportLink; development of the CSG industry; Gold Coast Light Rail; Redcliffe Peninsula Line and Commonwealth Games infrastructure. He also led reforms including; SEQ public transport fares; personalised transport; local government accountability and transparency. He worked closely with industry to navigate the recovery of tourism and events out of the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
As Minister for Sport, Stirling was part of the team that worked on the successful bid for Brisbane to host the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games. He especially values his relationship with all the delivery partners across the international, national and local sporting bodies and governments at three levels.
Prior to public life, Stirling worked in a variety of public and private sector jobs, as well has having run his own small business. His interests include history and sport, especially basketball.
