Member for Sandgate, Stirling Hinchliffe, is urging 4017 locals to swap their containers for change as part of Queensland’s container refund scheme Containers for Change which begins from 1 November.
The scheme will allow Northsiders to collect and return eligible containers for recycling, in exchange for a refund payment. This will help to reduce the amount of drink container litter that enters our precious Bayside environment, while increasing recycling rate locally.
Mr Hinchliffe said Containers for Change is also a great opportunity to support our local community groups and charities by donating the 10 cent refund from each container. When you return your containers, you can choose to donate your refund to an organisations registered with the scheme.
“We know that recycling not only benefits the environment, but also provides opportunities for our community as well”, Mr Hinchliffe said.
Local container drop off points include:
Vinnies, Brighton (229 Beaconsfield Terrace, Brighton)
Salvos, Sandgate (77 Rainbow Street, Sandgate)
