Sandgate State School’s playgroup ‘Little Pippis’ Playgroup’ is set to benefit from a new space, with the transformation of the school’s old prep building on the corner of Keogh and Lagoon Street to be used exclusively for the space.
Member for Sandgate, Stirling Hinchliffe, said that after having put the suggestion to the school community, he was excited to see the space being transformed for exclusive use by the playgroup.
“This is a terrific outcome, using a great space in the heart of Sandgate, to connect local families, enhancing the school community,” Mr Hinchliffe said.
Sandgate State School Acting Principal, Tracey Douglas, said that Pippis’ is a terrific way for future Sandgate State School students to make friends with each other and become familiar with the school grounds before commencing Prep.
Mr Hinchliffe also said he had a personal connection to the building after it was revealed that it was his preschool building.
“My earliest memories of this space was walking down to the Einbunpin lagoon with the other kids to see the ducks,” Mr Hinchliffe said.
