Member for Sandgate, Stirling Hinchliffe, is calling on local community groups to apply for funding under the latest round of Gambling Community Benefit Fund, which is now open.
Mr Hinchliffe said community groups across the Sandgate electorate are able to apply for funding worth between $500 and $35,000.
“The Gambling Community Benefit Fund is Queensland’s largest one-off grants program and each year it distributes about $54 million of gaming revenue to Queensland communities,” Mr Hinchliffe said.
“Since coming to Government in 2015, the Palaszczuk Government has distributed over $1.11 million to community groups across the Sandgate electorate.
“This funding has allowed our community groups to purchase much-needed equipment and to upgrade their facilities.
“These not-for-profit groups are the backbone of our community and these grants allow the community groups to fund projects that might have otherwise been out of reach.”
Mr Hinchliffe said the Gambling Community Benefit Fund allowed sporting clubs and community organisations to upgrade their facilities and purchase equipment so they could ultimately improve the services they offer the community.
“I encourage all eligible organisations to submit applications through the Gambling Community Benefit Fund online grants portal,” he said.
“This fund is open to organisations that have not-for-profit objectives and are community based.”
Groups have until midnight November 30 to submit their application.
